As part of a 'Great Buildings' showcase, CNN interviewed architect Ma Yansong about his Absolute Towers project in Missassauga, Canada. The 2012 CTBUH Best Tall Buildings America award goes to Absolute Towers.

CNN has also interviewed Daniel Libeskind, Zaha Hadid and Barry Hughes for the series.

Ma Yansong names Absolute Towers as his favorite personal project. It was the first building he designed. He won the commission at the age of 30 in 2006.

"His two residential towers are alike in their sinuous curvilinearity -- which enraptured locals nicknamed ‘Marilyn Monroe’ -- but were designed separately," CNN reports. "The first tower was so beloved by Missisaugans, a second was commissioned and completed last year."

The building Mr. Ma most wishes he'd designed is Louis Kahn's Salk Institute in California.

Ma Yansong will present the Absolute Towers project at the CTBUH 2012 Awards Symposium and Dinner, October 18th, at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
