Chicago-based Goettsch Partners (GP) has released its design of a commercial development and tower created for Al Hilal Bank on Abu Dhabi's Al Maryah Island, the financial district formerly known as Sowwah Island.
The podium of the 24-story tower contains a retail banking facility as well as a three-story transparent lobby, Dexigner reports. The design also includes a landscaped park and reflecting pool along the building's western façade.
The façade consists of an aluminum-and-glass curtain wall system with glass and notched metal-spandrel elements and vertical glass fins that provide shading.
"The new tower creates a distinctive architectural form, which is expected in the region," James Goettsch, president of Goettsch Partners, said in the project description. "At the same time, the building offers very efficient floor plates that are atypical in the local market."
