Africa-Israel Investments Ltd. has received approval from the Ramat Gan Local Planning and Building Commission for a 42-story high-rise. If completed, the building could be one of the tallest buildings in the country.
Ramat Gan is a satellite of Tel Aviv, located to the east of the capital. It is home to the Moshe Aviv Tower, Israel's tallest building.

The developers plan to build the tower on the site of the Bauhaus-era Ramat Marpeh, Israel's first maternity hospital. The Planning and Buildings Commission dictated that the project must preserve the hospital building and strengthen the adjacent Givolim School against earthquakes.
Demolition of the Ramat Marpeh Maternity Hospital was physically blocked five years ago by 500 local residents. The Tel Aviv Regional Planning and Building Commission then suspended the hospital's demolition. Africa-Israel bought the property in 2005.
