Impakt Real Estate in Nashville, Tennessee, has announced plans to build a high-rise shaped like an acoustic guitar. Plans for the 32-story building, which will be called Strings, call for offices in the instrument's body and condos in the neck.
"A few years ago I came up with the idea," Impakt president Travis Kelty told local media. "I bought my wife a guitar, turned it on its side, and said, 'That would make a great building.'"
Mr. Kelty is reportedly engaged in talks with two anchor tenants.
"I think if you break it down logically, and look at the components, it isn't that different from other buildings that have been built," he continued. "It's a reflection of the history and culture of Nashville and what music has brought to the city."
Mr. Kelty hopes to acquire a downtown site within the next 60 days, according to the Nashville Business Journal. The entire project may cost up to $100 million.
