China Broad Group CEO Zhang Yue told the Reuters news service the odds are “100 percent” that his company will build a two-kilometer tower. The article provides insight to the man at the helm of the company that is also planning to build a prefabricated 838-meter tower, which would be the tallest in the world.

“Some say that it's sensationalism to construct such a tall building,” Mr. Zhang told Reuters. “That's not so. Land shortages are already a grave problem. There's also the very serious transportation issue. We must bring cities together and stretch for the sky in order to save cities and save the Earth. We must eliminate most traffic, traffic that has no value! And we must reduce our dependency on roads and transportation."

The company claims that their pre-fabricated skyscraper "can fix many of the world's pollution, congestion, transportation and even disease problems by completely purifying the tower's air," according to Reuters.

The Reuters article describes Mr. Yue's rise to his $1.19 billion dollar fortune through cooling systems and air conditioning. He eventually founded the Broad Sustainable Building branch of his company, which specializes in pre-fabricated construction techniques. The company makes building components in factories and assembles them on site.

Video of the company constructing a 30-story tower in 15 days has attracted more than 5 million views on YouTube.

The CEO plans to employ similar tactics in the Sky City construction. "Many people will hesitate, and say, 'You broke free from convention, but you're taking on how much risk and at what cost?'" he told Reuters. "No! That's precisely what I want to do: Break with convention - outrageously, without cost, without risk. Everything Broad does is breaking with convention. My buildings will be extremely stable, as solid as a mountain."
