Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corp. has begun construction on a third tower in the Grand Chateau complex in Las Vegas. The 37-story tower will add 223 units to the development located off the Strip, across from Planet Hollywood, Marriott announced in a statement today.

The new tower will include Marriott Vacation Club apartments with sizes ranging from 820 to 2,100 square feet (76 to 195 square meters) and featuring mahogany stained furniture and cabinets, granite surfaces and full-service kitchens. The three-bedroom apartments can reportedly accommodate up to 10 people.

“The Las Vegas market has been great for us, which has allowed us to continue on with our phased construction,” Ed Kinney, vice president of corporate affairs with Marriott Vacations Worldwide, told Commercial Property Executive. “It’s exciting to be in the market; it’s certainly been a high-demand location for us.

“The plan was originally approved for four buildings and that’s still our goal, and construction will be based on sales performance,” Mr. Kinney continued. “That will finish out the project.”

The tower is scheduled to open to the first residents in mid-2014.
