Wilcoter Architects has won the international competition to design a group of towers for the China Life Insurance Group Headquarters in the city of Hangzhou, ArchDaily reports. The design statement says that the complex's concept is the Tree of Life, which will supply "a cover or shelter" for the city.
The project includes three towers--one hotel and two offices. The three towers are surrounded by a series of lower domed buildings.
"The proposal is an image of sustainable development of the company and our life," the architects wrote in their statement. The central, sculptural structure represents a tree that is intended to nourish communication between the towers.
