French architect Dominique Perrault has won an international competition to design the Esplanade Tower in Fribourg, Switzerland. The competition was to design a mixed use tower for the Swiss Federal railways, which will include housing, offices and retail space.
The 60-meter (197-foot) project will be built on the former site of a historic rail station, which closed more than 80 years ago. Dominique Perrault Architecture won the competition in collaboration with Swiss companies Steiner SA Group and Architram Studio.
An exhibition of the competition entries opened yesterday in Fribourg and will run through July 8.
