TheCTBUH Urban Habitat / Urban Design Committeeorganized its third annual Global Walking Tours in 13 cities around the world on August 25, 2016. While the first two walking tour events examined cold weather and warm weather spaces, respectively, this year’s program shifted the focusing to examine public spaces in a twilight setting.
The experiences of these tours, in addition to providing participants with a new view on the potential of their city’s public spaces in facilitating evening experiences, will also help inform a new CTBUH Technical Guide being produced by the Committee, entitled Urban Spaces Surrounding Tall Buildings.

The events, spread across the world, were united by social media, via the Twitter hashtag #CTBUHWalks, resulting in hundreds of photos, movies, and in-the-moment observations being shared.

After the tours, coordinators and attendees prepared detailed reports of their respective journeys, affording insights into the unique conditions of each city, as well as common themes.
