On Sunday, July 5, CTBUH staff member Jan Klerks was invited on a helicopter tour over the city of Chicago.
The tour was planned for an early morning moment as the sun shines from the East, allowing for good pictures from the lake viewpoint.

Klerks about the tour: "We explored the area between Cellular Field (White Sox) and Wrigley Field (Cubs), which naturally included the Loop, Millennium Park, Michigan Avenue, Chicago River and surroundings."

"As this was a photographers tour, the helicopter pilot had taken out the doors so there were no obstructions for taking images. Although we were properly secured, it's a good thing I'm not afraid of heights," continues Klerks. "At one point we were flying at the same height level as the roof tops of Sears and Trump Tower, which must have been around 1,000 feet. The pilot had announced our tour to the local authorities so people wouldn't be alarmed by seeing a low flying helicopter in between the Chicago skyscrapers."

"The views from that height are so spectacular that the only thing you worry about is taking as many pictures as you can. It's only hours later when you see the results on your computer that you realize what you have seen."
