Social networking events such as the Welcome Reception and Congress Dinner, along with the Technical and Regional Tours are also included. Introduction

CTBUH Executive Director, Antony Wood, describes the many reasons why Dubai was chosen as the host city for the CTBUH 8th World Congress. He provides a backround of the city and it's relationship to tall buildings around the world.


Plenary 1: Urban Sustainability

Select footage from Plenary 1 is showcased featuring speakers His Excellency Hussain Nasser Lootah (Dubai Municipality), Sadhu Johnston (City of Chicago), and Peter Wynne Rees (City of London Corporation). This session takes a look at Dubai, Chicago and London and what these cities are doing to grow in a sustainable manner.


Plenary 2: Burj Dubai

Select footage from Plenary 2 showcases featured speakers His Excellency Mohamed Ali Alabbar (Emaar), Adrian Smith (AS + GG Architecture) and William F. Baker (SOM). This session takes a look at the Burj Dubai and the many innovations it took to get it built.


Plenary 3: Tapered, Tilted, Twisted: Articulated Towers

Select footage from Plenary 3 is showcased featuring speakers Ole Scheeren (OMA), Ken Dalton (AECOM / Faber Maunsell), Leslie E. Robertson (LERA) and David Malott (Kohn Pedersen Fox). This session looks at new typologies being explored in verticle space throughnew architecture and engineering practices.


Other Presentation Highlights

Select footage from Technical Sessions is showcased, featuring speakers Ken Yeang (Llewelyn Davies Yeang), Gary Lawrence (Arup), Hani Rashid (Asymptote), Ken Shuttleworth (Make), Simon Allford and Paul Monaghan (Allford Hall Monaghan Morris), and Jeanne Gang (Studio Gang). The highlights contain a variety of key points on a range of topics from new sustainable practice to challenges in design thinking.


Tours & Social Networking Events

Antony Wood overviews some of the techincal tours and networking activities offered to the numerous delegates of the CTBUH 8th World Congress in Dubai. The tours and networking events proved to be successful, attended by numbers delegates from all over the globe.


Summary & Credits

Antony Wood explains the goals of the CTBUH 8th World Congress in Dubai and how they were met. The entire event is then reflected upon through a TV news story about the conference as well as a few follow up comments from attendees. Final credit is given to all who worked to make the 2008 CTBUH Dubai Congress a success.
