With 615 delegates representing 278 companies and 35 countries, and a program chock-full of world renowned speakers, the Chicago Conference, including the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Council and the 8th annual awards dinner in recognition of the 2009 Best Tall Buildings, was a smashing success!

Presentations, Speakers & Videos

There were 24 presentations over 8 themed sessions during the two days, from some of the world's most renowned speakers. Speakers included: Mohamed Ali Alabbar, Mayor Richard M. Daley, Arthur Gensler, Steven Holl,  John Portman, Adrian Smith, Richard Tomasetti, Eric Trump, and many more.


Video Highlights

In addition to all the speaker videos (shown in full in the Presentations section above), video highlights are also available, profiling some of the more memorable messages from the presentations and including footage of the social-networking events and other aspects of the conference.


Technical Tours

On the day prior to the conference, six tall building tours were organized for conference attendees to choose from. These tours gave attendees the opportunity to see some of Chicago's most notable high rise building and construction sites.

Sponsors, Exhibition and Networking Breaks

Conference attendees had plenty to explore during the coffee and lunch breaks. With 18 exhibitors set up outside the main auditorium and an adjacent poster exhibition featuring nearly 50 posters, every break was an active session of networking for the attendees.

Welcome Reception

Held in the ballroom facilities of the Trump Tower on the evening before the conference, delegates were treated to sweeping views of the Chicago skyline and riverfront. The CTBUH awarded the Trump Organization with a plaque at the event to recognize the Trump Tower's significant height achievements.

Awards Dinner

The CTBUH 8th Annual awards dinner was held in conjunction with the conference dinner and many conference delegates took advantage of this opportunity by attending the event which recognize the Best Tall Building and Lifetime Achievement Award winners for the year.

Plaques and Ceremonies

There were several ceremonies that coincided with the conference, including a plaque presentation to the Trump Organization, the transfer of the CTBUH Chairmanship and H.E. Mohamed Ali Alabbar presenting Mayor Daley with a bolt from the soon to be completed Burj Dubai.

Video Interviews

During the Conference, Special CTBUH Media Correspondent Jeff Herzer conducted onsite interviews with many of the speakers to give further insight on their presentation topics as well as other topics and projects that they wanted to discuss.


Attendance Statistics and Feedback

This section shows the overall attendance statistics, including the list of all conference attendees and the delegate feedback received about the conference. Statistics include the attendance breakdown per country and profession and shows which companies registered the most delegates.
