2009 Awards Book Published

"Best Tall Buildings 2009: CTBUH Award Winning Projects" has been published and is now available for puchase. From the Manitoba Hydro Place in Winnepeg and the Broadgate Tower in London to the QIPCO Tower in Doha and the Linked Hybrid Building in Beijing, this official guide features winning projects alongside finalists and the other nominees from around the world. In addition, the 2009 CTBUH Lifetime Achievement award winners are profiled for their life’s work in the advancement of tall buildings: John C. 2009 Award Winners Announced

The CTBUH is proud to announce the four regional winners of the 2009 “Best Tall Building” awards.  After carefully deliberating over a record number of nominations, the 2009 Awards Committee, chaired by Gordon Gill, has selected: Manitoba Hydro Place, Winnipeg for Americas, Linked Hybrid Building, Beijing for Asia & Australasia, The Broadgate Tower, London for Europe, and Tornado Tower, Doha for the Middle East & Africa.  One of these four projects will be recognized as the "2009 Best Tall Building Overall" at the 2009 Awards Dinner to be held on October 22nd. 

The CTBUH also announces the winners of its two “Lifetime Achievement” Awards, recognizing individuals who have contributed a lifetime's work to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment.  This year’s recipient of the Lynn S. Beedle Award will be John C. Portman Jr. and the Fazlur Rahman Kahn Medal will be awarded to Dr. Prabodh V. Banavalkar.

Winner announced at 2009 CTBUH Awards Dinner on October 22nd

Record Number of Awards Submissions / Jury Confirmed

Following the 15th May submission deadline, the CTBUH is pleased to report that is has received a record number of entries for the best tall building and lifetime achievement awards. The 2009 awards committee - chaired by Gordon Gill of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture and consisting of Ahmed Abdelzeraq, Tim Johnson, Matthias Schuler, Ken Shuttleworth, and Antony Wood - will deliberate in the coming weeks, with an announcement of winners on 1st July. Call for Awards

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat is pleased to announce the call for awards for the 2009 CTBUH Awards, under the direction of 2009 CTBUH Awards Chairman, Mr. Gordon Gill of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture.

Submit your qualifying projects* to be considered for one of four regional Best Tall Building Awards, (as listed right) and the Best Tall Building Overall, and/or your distinguished colleagues for one of two Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Winners and Finalists will be honored at the
8th Annual CTBUH Awards Dinner and Ceremony to be held in Crown Hall, Chicago on the evening of  Thursday October 22nd, 2009.

*NOTE: Best Tall Building nominated projects must be completed (topped out architecturally, fully clad, and at least partially occupied) no earlier than January 1st, 2008 and no later than October 1st, 2009.
