11th Annual CTBUH Awards

In its third year, the CTBUH’s free Awards Symposium was expanded to a full day event, bringing in presentations from two of the Finalist projects and the new Innovation Award. In addition, delegates heard presentations from representatives of the regional Best Tall Building winners: Absolute Towers, Mississauga (Americas region), 1 Bligh Street, Sydney (Asia & Australasia region), Palazzo Lombardia, Milan (Europe region), Doha Tower, Doha (Middle East & Africa region), and Al Bahar Towers, Abu Dhabi, UAE (Innovation Award), as well as from the two lifetime achievement award winners: Helmut Jahn, and partners Charles Thornton & Richard Tomasetti.

Presentations & Speakers
Nine special presentations were made at the free symposium, with presentations by representatives of the client and project teams of the four regional winning Best Tall Buildings, two regional Best Tall Building finalists, the Innovation Award, and both of the Lifetime Achievement award winners.

Awards Ceremony & Dinner
The CTBUH 11th Annual awards ceremony and dinner was held immediately after the afternoon Symposium in nearby S.R. Crown Hall. The awards were bestowed at this event, including the announcement of the 2012 CTBUH "Best Tall Building Worldwide" award which was revealed to be Doha Tower.

Sponsors & Networking
The CTBUH hosted an exhibition booth at the Awards Symposium with all the latest Council publications and information, which was enjoyed by many during the networking event. A coffee and lunch break provided opportunities for Delegates to network and discuss Symposium topics.

Video Interviews
Video interviews with representatives of the project teams present at the Symposium are available. Award Winners, Finalists and Fellows were invited to discuss their projects, but also the future of tall buildings and issues of sustainability.
