Awards 2011 Symposium

10th Annual CTBUH Awards

For the second year, the CTBUH has organized a free afternoon Awards Symposium to precede the annual Awards Ceremony & Dinner. Over 600 delegates heard special presentations from representatives of the regional award winning projects which included representatives of: Eight Spruce Street, New York (Americas region), Guangzhou International Finance Center, Guangzhou, China (Asia & Australasia region), KfW Westarkade, Frankfurt, Germany (Europe region), and The Index, Dubai, UAE (Middle East & Africa region), as well as from the two lifetime achievement award winners: Adrian Smith, and Dr. Akira Wada.

Presentations, Speakers & Videos

Six special presentations were made at the free afternoon symposium, with 
presentations by representatives of the client and project teams of the four regional winning Best Tall Buildings, and presentations by both of the Lifetime Achievement award winners.


Awards Ceremony & Dinner

The CTBUH 10th Annual awards ceremony and dinner was held immediately after the afternoon Symposium in nearby S.R. Crown Hall. Awards were bestowed at this event, including the "Best Tall Building Worldwide" award which was revealed to be the KfW Westarkade project in Frankfurt.

Sponsors and Networking Break

The CTBUH hosted an exhibition booth at the Awards Symposium with all the latest Council publications and information, which was frequently visited during the Networking coffee break. Delegates discussed Symposium topics, reviewed the newest CTBUH publications, and networked.

Video interviews with representatives of the Best Tall Buildings and Lifetime Achievement awards are posted here, including discussions of their respective projects and the future of tall buildings in conjunction with issues of safety, sustainability and feasability.
