William Pedersen, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates

Mr. Pedersen’s approach to design has been one that weds formal and technical originality with a modesty informed by a deep respect for spatial and historical context. Mr. Pedersen will discuss his career and the architectural development of the tall building  typology including highlights such as: International Commerce Centre (2010), Shanghai World Financial Center (2008), 333 Wacker (1983) and more.

Pinnacle @ Duxton: Superdensity – Reimagining the high-rise housing typology

Pinnacle @ Duxton has integrated public outdoor green spaces at height with the creation of two usable linear skyparks as well as a large park space on the podium. It creates a high level of density on site without sacrificing access to green space. This is all the more remarkable considering that the project is essentially a public housing scheme.

Broadcasting Place: Diversification of Tall Buildings for New Social Context

Creating a unique and interesting form on the Leeds skyline, the cor-ten clad Broadcasting Place has an iconic presence, but was not designed as a piece of sculpture. The building’s form and elevations were carefully planned around the optimization of daylighting and the façade was specifically designed to reduce cooling loads/energy use.

With over 50 years in practice as a structural engineer, Mr. Seinuk is a worldwide authority on the design and construction of high-rise concrete and steel buildings. Mr. Seinuk will reflect on his experiences and knowledge gained over his career including significant works such as: O-14 (2010), 785 Eighth Avenue (2009); Trump World Tower (2001); and 4 Times Square (1999).
