Mr. Farzad Naeim is principal in charge of setting policies and implementation of such policies with respect to technical, analytical and legal issues involved in operation for John A. Martin & Associates.  Mr. Naeim is a Registered Structural Engineer and a Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California, a Registered Senior Structural Engineer for Post-Earthquake Safety Evaluations in California, an Attorney at Law and Member of the California Bar Association, a Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and an Attorney at Law for the Federal District Courts of the State of California. In addition, Mr. Naeim is Vice President of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) and Editor-in-Chief of its professional journal, Earthquake Spectra; Director of Research & Development for John A. Martin & Associates; Member of Board of Directors of the Consortium of Organizations for Strong-Motion Observation Systems (COSMOS); Member of the Advisory Council for the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC); and Member of UCLA’s Industry Advisory Board. His dedication to his profession has earned him many engineering awards including the Los Angeles Tall Buildings Structural Design Council’s Outstanding Journal Paper Award (5 times between 1996-2006) as well as the Outstanding President Award (1996); the Structural Engineers Association of California’s Superior Structural Engineering Award of Excellence; the SAC Joint Venture’s Major Contribution Recognition Award (2000) and the Major Investigator Valuable Service Recognition (1996).
