Progressive Collapse Working Group

The approach to Progressive Collapse varies substantially around the world. Many countries, for example, do nothing. Europe has recently introduced new guidance, and the US is currently debating what to do. Last year the JIS, with assistance from the CTBUH, published a Progressive Collapse guideline which looked at explicit design techniques for column removal. The working group has been established to review the design philosophy, and will produce a best practice guidance, and identify what further research is needed.
