Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat
Building Information Modeling Working Group

The purpose of this working group is to enable a forum about the challenges and opportunities central to Building Information Modeling in the design and construction of tall buildings. Our new information-based systems are providing us with new capabilities for design, production, and construction. Simultaneously, these new approaches are transforming the conventional relationships between architect, engineer, builder, and owner. Through relevant precedents and collegial dialogue, this working group aims to guide the BIM conversation for a rapidly transforming industry.

Membership to the working group is open to any professional in the tall building practice who is actively involved in the CTBUH and has deep interest or expertise in building information modeling. The work group will strive to be geographically diverse and have all facets of tall building and sustainable urban design represented.

Goals of the BIM Working Group:
• Disseminate the BIM Work Group’s research through the CTBUH journal, the CTUBH website, and presentations at the CTBUH Congress event and other opportunities.
• Foster collaboration between young professionals and academics.
• Work with software vendors and technology specialists to develop best practices and inform future workflows relevant to tall building design and construction.
