As part of a global expansion, the CTBUH is seeking a motivated and dedicated tall building professional to co-ordinate CTBUH operations around the world, initially concentrating on the launch of a new China office in Shanghai. This new China office will be hosted by the prestigious College of Architecture and Urban Planning at Tongji University. The office will act as the conduit for translation and promotion of international CTBUH output to the China tall building industry, as well as concentrating on specific China initiatives such as research, events and publications.
The preferred candidate will have a proven track record of leading projects and developing international connections, either in academia or the private sector. The ideal candidate will be experienced in tall building design and construction, with relevant knowledge of the architectural, construction or engineering industry. The candidate should portray excellent techniques of oral and written communications, as well as strong interpersonal relations skills. A Bachelors Degree qualification in a relevant subject is required. Chinese language ability would also be a distinct advantage. After an initial period of orientation with the Council’s main office in Chicago, the candidate is expected to be based in China for a substantial period of time.
In particular the Asia Office Director will:
1. Lead CTBUH initiatives in China to grow membership and disseminate the latest technical knowledge on tall building development;
2. Provide a conduit for all CTBUH activities in China, including events, publications and membership outreach;
3. Feed developments in China back into global CTBUH initiatives, including research, awards, publications, website and database resources, etc.;
4. Develop programs that provide value to China-based members and spread best practices within the tall building industry;
5. Serve as a spokesperson for the organization with press / media / others.
