A native of California, Moira Moser gained an international education as an architect before arriving in Hong Kong in 1978. With the economy booming, she very quickly saw an opportunity: multinational companies required offices in Hong Kong, but few design firms ‘on the ground’ could understand their needs and deliver quality results. As a result, Moser went into business for herself, founding M Moser Associates in 1981.
Today the company has grown into a global firm of more than 500 staff in 11 offices on three continents. It is the largest firm in Asia focusing on designing and delivering corporate interior architecture of international quality. The company’s services have expanded beyond design to include complementary expertise in strategic planning, architecture, engineering, sustainability, and through the M Moser Technology division, IT infrastructure planning and integration. The firm’s capabilities have correspondingly expanded to providing solutions for large-scale facilities and campuses, and complex engineering-intensive facilities.
Moira Moser’s own professional achievements are as global as the company she founded. She is a recognised architect in California, the UK and Hong Kong, and a member of the American Institute of Architects. In 2001, she became one of the few women to be made a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects. She has worked with the International Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, headquartered at the Illinois Institute of Technology, since the early 1970s, and is currently a member of the Council’s Advisory Group. In 2004, she was recognised as Hong Kong’s ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by the Women of Influence group, and in 2008 received the prestigious Legend Award at the Contract Annual Design Award in New York.
