Steven Henry joined the CTBUH as Publications Coordinator in May 2008 and became Design & Production Manager in 2013, having previously worked at Epstein architects. He has been responsible for many of the Council’s publications, including: the inaugural 2008 CTBUH Awards Book and subsequent 2009, 2010, and 2011 editions, the CTBUH 40th Anniversary Commemorative Brochure, the 2009 Chicago Post Conference Report and Overview DVD, 2010 Mumbai Post Conference Report, oversees the design and layout of the CTBUH Journal, and he has developed the CTBUH InfoArchives – an ongoing series of quarterly publications. Steve’s future publication projects that are currently in the works include: “The CTBUH Guide to Natural Ventilation for Tall Buildings” and “New Paradigms in High-rise Design.”
In addition to publications, Steve handles an array of the day to day tasks at CTBUH Headquarters, coordinating and organizing many of the Council’s projects. These include: coordination of the CTBUH Sustainability Working Group, and managing all aspects of the CTBUH Awards program, including the submission & jury processes, the awards publication, Ceremony & Dinner, and in 2010 the Awards Symposium.
Steve is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology, College of Architecture, receiving his professional bachelor’s degree in architecture in 2008. He focused his final years of study on the high-rise, investigating new programmatic uses for the building type, including a mixed-used proposal for a new Chicago Architecture Center, as well as how to incorporate sustainable features as an inherent part of the design, culminating in the design research project, The Chicago Water Tower, which utilizes on site natural water recycling and façade rainwater capture.
