Born in 1960, Georges Binder is a graduate in Marketing-Distribution from the EPHEC in Brussels. He started working in the real estate industry as an analyst in the property arm of the financial AG Group, now Ageas. In 1990, he left AG Group, Belgium’s largest real estate investor, to join Residentia International, a Swedish developer, in the position of research manager.
In 1992, Georges founded BUILDINGS & DATA SA, a company that specialises in marketing, research studies and editorial and media services in the fields of architecture and real estate. In the PR field, Buildings & Data SA has also prepared and submitted on behalf of its clients awards entry dossiers and have aided clients in winning numerous international architecture and real estate awards, including 14 MIPIM Awards. Buildings & Data SA has created its own real estate archives and database compiled over a period of more than 35 years following a visit by Georges to the World Trade Center in New York City in 1975. In addition of an architectural library of some 2,500 books, it comprises information, original marketing brochures, databases, floor plans and images of major architectural and real estate projects from around the world, and particularly high-rise buildings, together with the buildings which make-up the 13M SQM Brussels office market. As managing director of Buildings & Data SA, Georges works directly with architects and developers and regularly collaborates on publications, urban forums, exhibitions and conferences about tall buildings.
Georges started his involvement with the CTBUH in the early 90s when CTBUH’s founder Dr. Beedle asked him to take over the responsibility of updating the CTBUH world’s tallest buildings list – Georges was Chairman of the CTBUH Height Committee from 1994 to 1998 and CTBUH 100 list editor from 1994 to 2007 – which was, especially prior to the internet era, a most visible CTBUH asset regularly recognized by the press. This work in 1995, allowed for the first time, the publication of an illustrated listing of the 100 world’s tallest buildings. Being a member of the CTBUH Advisory Group from 1995 to 2004, Georges continues today to share his tall buildings data research as an Associate Editor of the CTBUH Tallest Database and is CTBUH Country Representative for Belgium where he is based. During the past decade, Georges has been the editor or the author of a series of tall buildings books including 101 of the World’s Tallest Buildings co-published by the CTBUH. Georges is regularly invited as a speaker to present tall buildings statistics and trends at different conferences including CTBUH congresses and conferences in Dubai (2008), in Moscow (2008) and in Mumbai (2010). Recent examples of his collaboration can be found on exhibitions about tall buildings and offices, catalogues and research books in Brussels (2009, 2010, 2013), in Barcelona and in Madrid (2012) and in Palma de Mallorca (2013).
