NEW YORK CITY - More than 125 New York City professionals gathered on the rooftop terrace of Buro Happold’s office July 31 for the first event organized by the CTBUH’s New York steering committee.

“Tall Buildings, Tall Drinks, Tall Views” was a networking event designed to bring together tall building executives from many disciplines and introduce the Council’s new City Representative program.
“We certainly met our goal of bringing together many of NYC's tall building experts for an evening of socializing and to spread the word about CTBUH,” said Buro Happold principal Erleen Hatfield, who hosted the event.
The New York City Representative committee includes Arup principal David Farnsworth and Samuel Luckino, vice president of Arquitectonica, in addition to Ms. Hatfield.
“We are currently discussing plans for future events including tall building site tours, lectures and panel discussions related to tall buildings, as well as additional social events,” Ms. Hatfield said.
CTBUH Chairman Timothy Johnson, a partner in NBBJ, was among the attendees at the terrace event.
“This was a great first step for the New York committee,” Mr. Johnson said. “They are really stepping up and showing how the City Representative program can provide great benefits at a local level.”
The City Representative program was launched this spring to extend the CTBUH’s outreach initiatives and develop programs on a grass roots level. More than 40 industry executives in 13 countries have volunteered for the program and steering committees have been established in Toronto, Dubai and Melbourne, in addition to New York.
